Unlocking Extra Care Schemes: Exploring Our Schemes

Extra Care housing schemes in the UK offer a unique approach to supporting older adults by providing a combination of housing, personal care and support services tailored to individual needs.

These schemes are designed to enable older people to live independently for as long as possible while receiving assistance with daily tasks and access to on-site care if required. Extra Care housing typically includes self-contained apartments or bungalows with a purpose-built development, with communal facilities and 24-hour support available.

Statistics indicate a growing demand for extra care housing as the population ages and the need for specialised support services increases. Research suggests that by 2040, the number of people aged 85 and over in the UK is projected to more than double, highlighting the importance of providing suitable housing options that promote independence and well-being in later life.

Currently, there are over 750,000 people in the UK living with dementia, a condition that often requires specialised care and support, further highlighting the need for accessible and affordable extra care housing options.

Alderley Group are yet to undertake the development of our first extra care scheme, but continually work with Housing Associations to deliver the most appropriate options for the communities we operate in.
